Winter is always hard on your skin. It makes you want
to sit at home in heated rooms that quickly reduce your skin’s humidity. Even
when stepping outside, the winds can damage your skin by removing moisture. If
you have normal, dry, oily, or any other type of skin, the winter can damage
your skin’s moisture. Your outer layer of the skin, the epidermal, consists of
skin barriers that are a combination of lipids and dying/dead cells that help
prevent harmful toxins from entering the skin. When these lipids are less, they
cannot resist the water within layers leading to dryness, rashes, irritation,
flakiness, etc.

There is already much on how to take care of your
skin. However, sometimes your primary efforts can do wonders without causing a
lot of stress.
Stay hydrated
We understand it can be challenging to drink plenty of
water in winter. However, take much fluids or water during or after any
physical activity. Do not think of drinking only when thirsty; grab drinks
throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated.
Gently cleanse your face twice daily
The skin gets exposed to pollution and sun every day. A
cleanser that removes dirt and excessive oil and unclogs pores is vital to
refresh your skin. You may use alcohol-free, non-foaming cleanser on your face
twice a day. Gentle cleansers are much safer for most skin types, like dry,
oily, or sensitive ones.
Bathe in warm, not hot, water
Hot showers can remove your body’s natural oils. So,
limit your shower to once for 5-10 minutes and not beyond.
Moisturize it well
Apply moisturizer several times a day and not just
after the shower. The skin may feel dry after handwashing and needs some
moisture.
Humidifier helps
It can help prevent dry skin by increasing the
moisture in the air to help avoid discomfort. A humidifier can help with asthma
and allergic symptoms, prevent the spread of germs, etc.
